Restaurants and businesses centers are to be closed at 5 pm on New Year’s Eve as part of authorities’ plan to address issues related to the occasion.
The decision to close restaurants, business centers by 5 pm on New Year’s Eve was made during a meeting headed by Commissioner Karachi Navid Sheikh on Wednesday (today).
Additional security, law enforcement personnel will be deployed across the city, especially public places and recreational spots such as sea view.
Section 144 has been enforced in the city with a strict ban on aerial firing, weapons display and one-wheeling. Violators will be subjected to strict legal action.
In addition to it, police have been instructed to ensure especial arrangements for public safety, security.
Commissioner Karachi has directed police officers to coordinate with Rangers, hospitals and fire department in case of any emergency situation.
The development comes as Karachiites face severe traffic jams, injuries and deaths due to aerial firing on the occasion of New Year’s Eve each year.
