Karachi and Punjab are reportedly facing an acute COVID-19 vaccine shortage due to delay in vaccine doses shipment from federal government.
As per details, COVID-19 vaccine centers in Karachi and various cities across Punjab most notably Lahore, are facing acute vaccine shortage.
The shortage of COVID-19 vaccine has forced the authorities to only administer coronavirus vaccine to people who have already got their first jab and are coming to vaccination centers for their second vaccine dose.
Karachi is also facing a significant shortage of Chinese-origin COVID-19 vaccines.
People were sent back from Lahore’s mass vaccination center after being told that the NADRA system is being updated and so vaccination has stopped and will resume after two days at the Expo Centre.
Punjab Primary and Secondary health department, has denied COVID-19 vaccine shortage reaffirming that the situation will improve soon.
Yasmin Rashid – Punjab Health Minister, has said that a large number of people came to the center for a second dose which resulted in depletion of vaccine’s stock at a faster rate.
Pakistan is currently utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
