Pakistan Meteorological Department, on Friday, announced that Karachi is likely to experience from May 5 to May 8.
Sardar Sarfaraz – Director Met Department, said that the the southern port city is expected to observe a heatwave between May 5 and May 8 with the temperature expected to reach up to 42 degrees Celsius.
Karachiites will also bear hot winds blowing from the northwest, while the sea breeze – which plays a key role in moderating the weather of the city, will also be stopped.
Earlier, Karachiites experienced a two-day heatwave in the mid of April which saw the temperature rising up to 40 degrees Celsius.
Karachi has already witnessed a deadly heatwave in the month of Ramazan back in 2015. A severe heat wave with temperatures as high as 49 °C (120 °F) struck Karachi in the month of Ramazan, in June 2015. It caused the deaths of about 2,000 people from dehydration and heat stroke, mostly in Sindh.
