K-Electric – Karachi’s sole power supplier, has sought National Power Regulatory Authority’s (NEPRA) approval for electricity price hike of up to Rs 1.71 per liter.
As per details, K-Electric has written to NEPRA seeking increase in electricity prices as ‘fuel adjustment charges’.
The electricity provider has sought a decrease in tri-monthly charges by Rs0.11 per unit. Meanwhile, it has requested increase of Rs3.23 and decrease of Rs1.52 in the per unit price of the electricity for the period of June 2020 to December 2020.
Furthermore, K-Electric has requested NEPRA to raise and decrease the tri-monthly adjustment for electricity unit prices for the period of April 2020 to December 2020 by Rs 3.80 and Rs 3.91 respectively.
Official records reveal that 119.72 billion units of electricity were produced during a 12-month period at a cost of Rs 651 billion. However, consumers paid a total of Rs 961 billion in electricity bills.
