Karachi has been hit with a major electricity breakdown after a high-tension transmission line of 220 kV tripped causing power outages in various areas across the metropolis.
As per details, around 45 grid stations faced power outage following the tripping of 220 kV high-tension line in NTDC’s NKI-Baldia 1 and 2 circuit.
Several areas including New Karachi, North Karachi, Defence Phase-I, Malir Model Colony, Lyari Kharadar, Khada Market, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, KDA Scheme 33 Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Buffer Zone, Shadman, Sir Syed Town, Nagan Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, Defense Phase VII and others.

According to KE – Karachi’s sole electricity distributor has clarified that restoration work has already been initiated and will soon be completed.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Energy has also confirmed the power breakdown and that the reason behind tripping of high-tension line are being duly investigated.
As per the latest KE statement, electricity in PECHS, Defence, Nipa, Civil Lines, North Nazimabad Block S, and other areas have been restored.
