Karachi: The Sindh Health Department on Sunday, issued a notification declaring the Karachi Expo Centre a quarantine centre to become operational and treat COVId-19 patients with no or mild symptoms.
Coronavirus patients, who register mild or no symptoms at all will be treated at the 1,200-bed field hospital which was inaugurated on April 1.
The Pakistan Army’s medical corps had assisted the provincial administration in setting up the 1,200-bed field hospital at Expo Centre late last month, with the provision of expanding its capacity to 10,000 beds if needed.
According to the notification issued by Sindh Health Department on April 5, “The positive cases of COVID-19 (asymptomatic or mild symptomatic) will be referred to Field Isolation Centre Expo-Karachi after filing of the attached referral form.”
“Medical superintendents of the hospitals of Karachi are strictly advised to keep the positive cases having moderate or severe symptoms at their hospitals in isolation wards,” it added.
Sindh has reported a total of 881 confirmed coronavirus cases with 15 deaths, while 123 patients have recovered from the novel virus in the province.
