Karachi authorities on Saturday, issued Rs 13,000 in fines on people for not wearing masks after new government COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines.
As per details, 26 people were fined Rs 13,000 in Karachi on Saturday over their failure to ensure face mask in public places.
The development comes as face masks were made mandatory by Karachi authorities on Friday to tackle second COVID-19 wave in the metropolis.
Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani had announced that face masks are now mandatory and violators will be subjected to an Rs 500 fine.
Karachi has emerged as the epicenter of COVI-19 outbreak in the province amounting to more than 50 per cent of the total cases being reported in the province.
