Authorities conducted trial run of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) on Thursday for the first time in 21 years.
As per details, authorities conducted trial run of KCR from the City railway station to Orangi Town to review the circumstances and hurdles in city-wide resumption of inter-city train travel.
During the experimental run, the train travelled at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, whereas the trains will run at a speed of 50-55 kilometers per hour once KCR operations are fully restored.
The KCR trial run marks the resumption of inter-city railway operations for the first time since 1999.
In the first phase, four trains will dpeart from Landhi station and Orangi town each at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm.
Once completed, KCR will start from Drigh Road station, going through Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal followed by Nazimabad, Yaseenabad and Liaqatabad.
The train will then head to Manghopir, SITE area followed by Baldia, Lyari Mereweather Tower, City Station, PIDC and Karachi Cantt.
KCR would then run parallel to Shahra-e-Faisal and will run through Chanesar Goth, Shaheed-e-Millat and Karsaz with Drigh Road Station being its last stop.
