Authorities on Monday (today), recovered around 7 kilometers of land around Mehmoodabad drain on first day of the new anti-encroachment drive.
As per details, authorities demolished illegal extended construction, infrastructure and other encroachments on Mehmoodabad drain in Karachi on the first day of the four-day anti-encroachment drive.
Various government authorities including Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) are working together in collaboration in the anti-encroachment drive to clear illegal constructions on Mehmoodabad drain.
The operation was conducted under heavy police, Sindh Rangers presence to address any violent resistance from the public
So far around 7.5 kilometers of land has been cleared from illegal encroachments.
The development comes as earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah presided over a meeting of Karachi Coordination Committee last month regarding city’s various issues.
The meeting was attended by Asad Umar – Federal Planning Minister, provincial ministers, secretaries and other high government officials, had decided to clear the illegal constructions, encroachment on and around Mehmoodabad drain.
CM Murad Ali shah had also apprised that the government had in-fact approached NED University to conduct survey regarding remodeling of various drains in Karachi.
