A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to investigate lawyers’ attack in Islamabad High Court (IHC) which took place on February 8th.
As per details, ICT has decided to constitute a JIT over lawyers’ ambush on IHC earlier this week. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the case pertaining to the February 8th incident and noted that the ambush wouldn’t have been possible without the support of district bar.
The top judge has directed authorities to ensure that no innocent lawyer is harassed or bothered during the investigation.
Justice Athar Minallah also sought a report from Commissioner and IG Islamabad regarding complaints of police harassment.
The case has been adjourned till February 15th.
It is pertinent to know that lawyers had ambushed IHC complex against the demolition of their ‘illegal’ chambers by Capital Development Authority (CDA) on February 8th.
The lawyers had resorted to stone pelting, had ‘manhandled’ IHC officials and harassed judges during their violent protest as IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah was also forced to confine himself to his chamber.
