Syed Abdul Rasheed, a Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) member of the Sindh Assembly has tested positive for coronavirus along with eight of his family members.
As per the details, MPA Abdul Rasheed is a resident of Lyari and has been actively participating in his party’s relief efforts amid COVID-19 lockdown. On April 25 he was diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus and went into self-isolation as recommended by healthcare experts.
However, his family members including his mother, wife, sister and children have also tested positive for the novel virus.
Furthermore, another 21 of his relatives were tested for the virus as a precautionary measure. Their tests however, later came back negative.
He is the third politician in Sindh to be diagnosed with COVID-19. Prior to him, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani had contracted the novel virus.
Sindh has reported a total of 5,695 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 1,169 recoveries and 100 fatalities so far.
