Islamabad police has arrested an armed man from in front of Parliament House on Monday (today).
The development comes as an unidentified man was seen brandishing weapons in front of Parliament House. Armed with a pistol in one hand and a knife in other, the armed individual was threatening and forcefully stopping the vehicles at Islamabad’s D Chowk.
The suspect has been taken into custody and has been PS Secretariat for further investigation.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has taken notice of the incident and has IG Islamabad to submit a report on the matter.
According to police, the suspect is a 45-year-old man who lives in Rawalpindi’s Chakri area.
Police has confiscated a pistol and a knife from the suspect. The suspect’s mental condition is not stable and he purportedly had come out on the street ‘to save the country as Pakistan faced the threat of disintegration due to a conspiracy’, said the police.
The weapons seized from the suspect were found to be rusty, whereas the pistol didn’t have any bullets, said police sources.
