The Sindh government, under strict SOPs and guidelines, has approved the resumption of intercity public transport in the province.
According to the notification issued by Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department, the intercity public transport has been allowed to resume amid increasing public demand, however both transporters and the passengers will be subjected to strict COVID-19 SOPS and preventive measures.
The use of facial masks and hand gloves has been made compulsory for passengers, drivers and conductors alike. Whereas buses will only be allowed to address 50 per cent of their total seating capacity and passengers must be seated at distances between them, said the notification.
Furthermore, provision of hand sanitizers has been made mandatory in buses, whereas sanitizer gates must be installed at bus stations and depos.

The transporters have been directed to ensure hygienic conditions in the vehicles, meanwhile drivers, conductors and passengers must be screened for increased body temperatures
The development comes as earlier, Sindh government allowed the resumption of public transport on June 3. However, it is to be noted that interprovincial public transport remain suspended amid COVID-19 outbreak.
