PTI Chairman Imran Khan has filed a bail application before the Islamabad High Court in the cipher case.
Imran Khan has requested the court to release him on bail.
The bail application was filed before the IHC by Khan’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar.
On September 14, the special court of the Official Secrets Act had rejected the bail pleas of the PTI chief and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The bail plea maintained that the prosecution had filed a malicious case. It also contended that while rejecting the bail, the special court of the Official Secrets Act had ignored the irregularities and the contradictions of the prosecution.
It further said that the PTI chairman was maliciously named in a fabricated case.
On September 14, the special court had rejected the post-arrest bail applications of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqernain had pronounced his reserved verdict after the parties concerned completed their arguments.
During the hearing, Special Prosecutor Shah Khawar had asked for unauthorized persons to be removed from the courtroom or they should be asked to take an oath. He said the hearting is in-camera and PTI lawyers make videos.
The judge ordered the irrelevant people as well as journalists to leave the courtroom.
The PTI lawyer had argued that the safety of any document coming into the PM House was not the responsibility of the prime minister. It was the job of the principal secretary, he added.
Earlier that dat, the court had approved PTI leader Asad Umar’s pre-arrest bail in the cipher case. The court directed Asad Umar to deposit a surety bond of Rs50,000.
