“I will beat you enough that you won’t be able to talk or walk or do anything…”
Little girl heard her father approaching her.
She wasn’t that little but, at that very moment, she felt the tiniest.
A sharp whistle wrapped her while she stood there numb. Numb was her heart and brain.
She lifted her gaze in search of shelter. Not knowing that her home is what just abandoned her.
Nothing was registering. It was all silent, numb, and cold. Just broken.
Days, weeks, months, years passed by. She was sitting in a hallway, working on her final year project. ‘Design Your Dream Home’.
Home… home, it said.
She couldn’t help but travel years back to that very day she was looking for a home.
The scar of the sharpest sword can be healed; what cannot be healed are the words once uttered.
The sound felt while hearing a word creates reality – the reality of our existence. Without words a thought is a mere thought, a dream is just another dream. When wrapped and conveyed in words, thoughts, and dreams become reality.
As the Quran says, ‘{… a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky}’ (The Quran 14:24)
Yet, being careless with words is what humans prefer.
It’s the words that can create hatred, love, healing, torture, harmony, chaos, peace, war…
The impression it engraves on a person lasts longer than the person’s existence itself.
Be it parents, spouse, siblings, friends, your words hold the power beyond the truth of our very existence.
Even the word ‘word’ stands with no exact synonyms and antonym.
Wonder why?
Because the power it holds if incomparable. Because the impression it creates is un-erasable.
Therefore, hold it in if it can’t be handled wisely, dear human. It can create impressions beyond the truth of our existence.
The final project was complete by now. She submitted it with a melancholic smile.
The teacher, curious from her expression opened the sheet.
Eyes.
Eyes was her dream home she is still looking for.
