Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday, wrapped up Islamabad Mayor suspension case after the federal government announced to withdraw the suspension notice against Sheikh Ansar Aziz – Mayor ICT.
During the hearing of the contempt of court case filed by Mayor Shekh Ansar Aziz against federal government for his unlawful suspension, government representatives announced that the federal government has decided to withdraw the suspension notice against Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz.

Following government’s decision to withdraw its suspension notice, the court then disposed off the case.
It is to be noted that Sheikh Aziz Ansari was suspended by federal government on May 17 for a period of 90 days under section 96, sub-section (1) of Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Act, 2015 (X of 2015).
Mr Ansari had succeeded in securing his reinstatement as Mayor Islamabad from IHC on May 21, which was followed by federal government’s plea in IHC against its decision to restore Aziz Ansari’s designation.
