Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, turned down petition filed against government restriction on ceremonies at indoor wedding halls.
As per details, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the petition filed by wedding hall owners seeking to reverse the government ban on indoor weddings.
During the hearing, Attorney General Khalid Javed apprised the court that the decision to ban indoor weddings has been made in light of public interest due to increasing COVID-19 cases.
Provincial authorities, experts were consulted and were duly taken onboard on the decision, he added.
Expressing his views on recent election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that government itself has failed to follow coronavirus SOPs.
In response, Attorney General highlighted the fact that government has already postponed all rallies and political gatherings to curb virus spread.
You should respect decisions made on the national level, said the top judge.
The court then dismissed the petition maintaining that the decision to ban indoor weddings has been made under extraordinary circumstances.
