ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has ordered that prisoners of Adiala Jail booked in petty crimes will be released after paying their surety bounds.
The high court has directed the deputy commissioner to appoint an officer who can collect sureties of prisoners to be released. However, if a prisoner is unable to submit the surety bound, the court has ordered the government to pay on his behalf.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that all precautions must be taken in the wake of Covid-19 emergency. He said that a written order for prisoners held at police stations will be issued for their release soon.
