Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has granted protective bail to former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in illegal appointment case.
The Islamabad High Court’s two member bench headed by Chief Justice IHC has approved Shahid Khaqan’s plea for bail before arrest for four weeks, with the provision that he appear before the Karachi court within four weeks.
Barrister Zafarullah Khan had filed the petition in IHC, seeking for protective bail for Mr Abbasi on his behalf, in an illegal appointment case.
Former Prime Minster is currently out on bail in the LNG terminal case, in which he is accused of hiring people illegally while serving as the petroleum minister during last PML-N tenure.
Earlier, The Accountability Court Karachi, had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a reference about the illegal appointment.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is also accused of awarding a 15-year contract for an LNG terminal allegedly when he was petroleum minister in Nawaz Sharif’s cabinet – a case in which he was granted bail by IHC on February 25.
