Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, directed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s warrants to be published, advertised in newspaper.
During the hearing of Avenfield and Al-Azizia reference in IHC today, the court directed Nawaz Sharif’s warrants to be advertised in newspaper as the former prime minister is currently in London.
The court has directed warrants to be published in both English and Urdu newspapers. In addition to it the warrants will also be advertised in United Kingdom as well.
IHC has given a 30-day deadline to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to appear before the court or he will be declared an absconder otherwise.
Federal government has been directed to bear the cost of warrants’ publication and submit receipts within two days for British publications.
The development comes as earlier, federal government had written to British officials seeking Nawaz Sharif’s deportation citing his ‘convict’ status.
Prior to this, Nawaz Sharif was declared a proclaimed offender last month after he refused to receive his arrest warrants on multiple occasions.
