IG Sindh, along with several senior police officials have gone on leave following PML-N leader Captain (Retd) Safdar’s arrest on Monday a day earlier.
Inspector-General (IG) Sindh Police Mushtaq Mahar and Additional Inspector-General (AIG) Imran Yaqoob Minhas have gone on leave as a result of PML-N leader and Maryam Nawaz’s husband, Captain (Retd) Safdar’s arrest and release fiasco.
Both senior police offices have cited stressful circumstances and argued that they are unable to perform their duties.
“It is respectfully submitted that in the recent episode of registration of FIR against Capt (R) Safdar in which police high command has not only been ridiculed and mishandled, but all ranks of Sindh Police have been demoralized and shocked,” read the application written by AIG Imran Yaqoob Minhas.
AIG Yaqoob Minhas has contended that in order to come out of this shock and settle down I may be granted 60 days earned leave w.e.f 26-10-2020.
Furthermore, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGPs) of the three ranges of Karachi have also submitted leave applications amid precarious situation surrounding Capt (Retd) Sadar’s arrest.
In addition to it, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah earlier, announced the formation of a ministerial committee to probe into matters pertaining to Capt (Retd) Safdar’s arrest.
