Inspector General (IG) Islamabad – Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman has briefed PM Imran Khan on the progress of couple harassment case on Friday (today).
As per details, during the meeting IG Islamabad apprised PM Imran Khan of the case’s progress and that the culprits are already in custody and are being investigated.
The premier was also informed that all scientific resources were being used to gather evidence for the trial.
IG Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman reassured PM Imran Khan that he himself is overseeing the case and is to ensure a successful conviction in the court of law.
Meanwhile, the victim couple, who are now married, has also recorded their statement in the case.
The four accused including Usman Mirza and Waqar Hussain were presented in front of a judicial magistrate in Islamabad on Friday (today).
The court then approved a four-day physical remand of the accused in harassment and assault case.
The development comes as PM Imran Khan had taken stern notice of the incident involving a young couple being verbally abused and physically assaulted by a property tycoon named Usman Mirza in Islamabad.
Islamabad Police had apprehended Usman Mirza after a video went viral on social media showing him brutally assaulting, threatening a young woman and man in Islamabad.
Usman Mirza’s accomplices Atta-ur-Rehman, Mudaris Butt and Farhan, Usman have also been taken into police custody.
In the video, Usman Mirza can be seen violently thrashing and harassing the young couple in a room full of other men. Old videos showing the accused’s weapons have also come to light.
The police has registered an FIR against the accused on blackmailing, rape, assault charges.
The accused is the co-owner of Autoland in Islamabad, a showroom that deals with new and used cars, real estate and rent-a-car.
