‘I am Kashmir’, a Turkish song that pays homage to the beauty of Kashmir valley and underscores Indian atrocities and brutalities in the occupied valley.
Turkey has long supported Kashmiris’ right of self-determination and their just struggle against illegal Indian occupation. Last year Turkish President – Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his virtual address to United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) reiterated Turkey’s support for Pakistan and its principle stance on Kashmir issue.
The Turkish President had highlighted the need to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the will of the Kashmiris and various UNSC Resolutions on the matter.
The song ‘I am Kashmir’ is a Turkish song composed and produced by Ali Tolga Demirtas, whereas the lyrics are credited to Turgay Evren.
The song highlights the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and how India has turned a ‘paradise’ into a gloomy valley of horror and bloodshed over the years.
Lyrics:
I will tell you now
The story of a land
Homes were destroyed but
Hopes remain grand
Young men are in jails
Massacre prevails
İmagination fails
Mothers here always wail
I am Kashmir
I stand tall
I am Kashmir
I never fall
I will read you now
The poem of a land
The pain is sharp but
Hopes remain grand
Women are half-widows
Young men lose their eyes
Broken are the windows
Tears river never dries
I am Kashmir
I stand tall
I am Kashmir
I never fall
