Gwadar has been granted the status of ‘capital’ city for South Balochistan in a bid to boost city’s growth and developmental potential.
As per details, Gwadar city has been declared as South Balochistan’s ‘capital’. The move is aimed at boosting Gwadar’s potential and elevating city’s global stature via highlighting city’s economic and development potential.
Naseer Khan Kashani – Chairman Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) has said that Gwadar port has ‘officially been declared as South Balochistan’s capital’.
Funds have also been allocated to furnish the civil secretariat of Gwadar in terms of its new status as the capital of South Balochistan. A team of Services and General Admission Department has launched the recruitment process too, said a GPA official.
The development comes as Gwadar city is destined to play a ‘central role’ in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as its port will be the main hub of goods transportation from China to Arabian sea and vice versa.
It is pertinent to know that in 2017, then Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri had announced that Gwadar would be the winter capital of the province and had directed all provincial departments to set up their offices in the port city.
