Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the authorities to formulate a relief package for Afghan refugees and Internally Displaced Persons in the country amidst the wake of coronavirus.
Speaking to the press, Minister Shehryar Khan Afridi stated that around 2.8 million refugees were living in 52 refugee camps all across Pakistan, 80% of whom consists of daily wagers.
“IDPs left their home for the safety of Pakistan, Pakistan will also not leave them alone in this testing time,” he noted.
Shehryar Afridi also called upon United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR’s) moral obligation to help afghan refugees in these dire circumstances.
The Prime Minister has directed to allocate necessary funds for refugees and IDPs from the Rs200 billion earmarked for poor farmers.
