Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz, has reiterated government’s resolve in taking strict action against people involved in sugar, wheat and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) corruption cases.
The federal minister clarified that the detailed inquiry report on sugar, wheat crisis is in the works while the investigation probe into IPPs has been facing a three-week delay due to COVID-19 outbreak and resulting lockdown.
Furthermore, Shibli Faraz also highlighted the practicality and significance of a ‘smart lockdown’, stating that even the most developed countries with extensive resources, such as United States, Italy and Spain could not afford a complete lockdown and opted for a limited lockdown instead.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is focused on easing the economic burden faced by the poor and the reopening of small industries along with construction sector will significantly help the millions of daily wage earners across the country, he added.
It is to be noted, that throughout the COVID-19 crisis, federal government has maintained its position of a limited ‘smart lockdown’ allowing various sectors, industries and businesses to resume operations while strictly adhering to the social distancing guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government as per the recommendations of health experts.
