Islamabad: Federal government has announced to increase EOBI pensioners’ monthly stipend to Rs 8,500.
In a statement issued on micro-blogging website, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis stated, “Government approved increase in pension amount from 1st January 2020. (Amount increased to Rs8,500 from 6,500 per month).”
Speaking to press, Zulfiqar Hussain Bukhari – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development reiterated his commitment to increase the pension to Rs15,000 per month during the term of the current government.
Prior to this, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had increased the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pension by 62 per cent from Rs5,250 to 8,500 within first year of its tenure.
“This is a practical step towards the establishment of a welfare state on the model of the state of Madina,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan.
