Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (today), unanimously approved a bill demanding ‘interim province’ status for GB.
The resolution was tabled by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid Khan himself and was duly supported by opposition benches.
“Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly unanimously passed a historic resolution demanding provision of constitutional rights to the region. I myself presented the resolution in the assembly. I am thankful to the opposition leader for their support,” said CM Khalid Khurshid.

The demand for constitutional rights is a unanimous demand of the people of GB, not of an individual/ party only. The unity we’ve shown on this issue needs to be repeated again at federal level, he added.
The resolution urges PM Imran Khan to grant Gilgit-Baltistan the status of ‘interim province’ and that it should also be given due representation in National Assembly (NA), Senate and other federal institutions.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology – Chaudhry Fawad Hussain took to social media to praise the development, terming it a historic day for the provision of constitutional rights of the people of GB.
