Pakistan Army troops, medics and engineering teams are leading the rescue and relief efforts in Ghotki after the deadly train accident, reported ISPR.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Army troops along with Rangers personnel are taking part in rescue and relief activities on the site.
Military Doctor and paramedics along with ambulances moved from Pannu Aqil have reached incident site, whereas engineer resources have also been mobilized to carry out necessary relief and rescue work. Army special Engineer Team Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) have been heli-lifted from Rawalpindi to incident site to speed up relief and rescue efforts, said ISPR.
Additionally, two helicopters are being flown from Multan for casualties’ evacuation and speedy relief measures. Relief goods being prepared and will be dispatched shortly, added the press-release.
Army’ USUAR team flown in from Rawalpindi is utilizing disc cutter, hydraulic spreaders, life locators and search cameras for relief and rescue efforts.
People with serious injuries are being evacuated to Pano Aqil through helicopter, noted ISPR.
As per military spokesperson, relief camp has been established at incident site and cooked meal is being provided to victims of train Incident. Army doctors and paramedics are providing first aid and necessary emergency medical care.
Ghotki Train Incident
At least 40 people have been killed after two passenger trains collided in Ghotki at around 3:30 am.
The incident took place in Daharki near Raiti railway station after Millat Express derailed and collided with Sir Syed Express.
The death toll is expected to increase as several people are still believed to be buried under the rubble.
A total of eight and three bogies derailed of Millat and Sir Syed Express respectively.
The dead bodies and injured have been shifted to various hospitals in Sadiqabad, Daharki and Mirpur Mathelo.
Federal Railways Minister – Azam Khan Swati has visited the site reassuring that he will personally oversee the investigation regarding the fatal incident.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed ‘shock’ over the deadly Ghotki train accident killing at least 40 people and injuring more than 100 others.
The premier has directed Railways Minister Azam Swati to reach the accident site and ensure that the wounded are being provided every required medical assistance to the commuters injured in the fatal incident.
The prime minister has also directed a comprehensive probe into railway safety faultlines to investigate the reasons behind the deadly incident and to prevent such accidents in future.
