Grand Health Alliance (GHA) on Friday, boycotted outpatient departments (OPDs) in public sector hospitals against the suspension of COVID-19 health risk allowance.
Grand Health Alliance (GHA) – a conglomerate of various unions of doctors, nurses, paramedics and hospital staff; protested against the suspension of COVID-19 health risk allowance for people serving and providing healthcare facilities amid virus pandemic.
The alliance has demanded Sindh government to restore and ensure the provision of COVID-19 health risk allowance for healthcare workers.
Meanwhile, Sindh Health Minister – Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho urged GHA to end their protest, stating that the government has already withdrawn its notification regarding the suspension of COVID-19 health risk allowance.
The minister has reiterated government’s commitment for providing health risk allowance to healthcare workers as long as the prevailing COVID-19 situation exists.
It is imperative to know that healthcare workers have been at the forefront of government’s efforts and policies aimed at tackling COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
Several healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and paramedics have succumbed to the novel virus while providing healthcare service to patients across Pakistan.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 321,877 cases with 6,621 reported casualties so far.
