Gilgit: The opposition leader of Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly has demanded the house to be adjourned to avoid non-essential financial expendings and divert financial resources to the procurement of medical equipment amid coronavirus outbreak.
Mohammad Shafi Khan – opposition leader at Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, has expressed his views that the legislative assembly is acting as a financial burden on the already strained economic situation of GIlgit Baltistan due to virus crisis.
He demanded that house should be adjourned for unlimited time to direct all financial resources for the procurement of essential medical equipment and gear (ventilators and PPEs) to deal with the virus outbreak in the region and to ensure the safety of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to dissolve the assembly and establish a caretaker administration to oversee the formulation of upcoming budget as he accused Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan of bypassing elected members and excluding them from the formulation of annual fiscal budget.
The GB Assembly completes its five-year term on June 24.
