Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. Gen Muhammad Afzal has reaffirmed that Pakistan is fully capable of tackling locusts attack crisis.
According to NDMA Chief Lt. Gen Muhammad Afzal the country has developed significant capacity and capability to effectively address and tackle locust attack threat in the country.
Expressing his views while speaking at National Locust Control Center in Islamabad, Chairman NDMA highlighted that his institution has played a key role in tackling COVID-19 crisis as well as locust attack issue faced by the country in recent times.
He also noted that climate change has extensively affected weather conditions in Pakistan, which in-fact are getting worse.
Syed Fakhar Imam – Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, was also present at the event and said that synergized efforts of provincial governments and federal institutions have affectively tackled the locust attack threat, preventing extensive damage to crops and agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, Chief Coordinator National Locust Control Center (NLCC) – Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz said that Locust attack threat has been successfully neutralized and dealt with.
