Bahawalpur: Bahawalpur police, on Friday, arrested four individuals on charges of mishandling and corruption in dealing with applicants of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme.
Four people were found of not providing cash payments to applicants of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme, despite the applicants being eligible for the relief programme.
The individuals were charging illegal commissions from the applicants that had applied and were eligible for the cash relief programme.
A case has been registered against three employees of a private bank for not disbursing cash to eligible applicants. Police has also recovered 29 CNICs from the accused.
Another individual was arrested on the charges of obtaining illegal commission from the people for providing the official cash payment of Rs 12,000 under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme.
Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme has been introduced by the federal government to help the poor and deserving people facing hardship because of the coronavirus lockdown. The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme will help 12 million families by providing them financial assistance of Rs 12,000 per family.
In addition to it, SSP Hassan Sardar Niazi, announced that 10 suspects were arrested who were charging Rs 500 – Rs 1,000 from the people under Badin Ehsaas Kafalat programme.
Ehsaas Kafalat Programme is another initiative launched by federal government in January 2020, to help needy people, especially women who will get cash payments of up to Rs 2,000 per month.
