Usman Kakar, veteran politician and former senator of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) passed away in Karachi on Monday (today).
Usman Kakar – 60, was being treated at Karachi’s Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) after his condition deteriorated following a head injury.
According to Dr Samad Panezai – Usman Kakar’s personal physician, the PKMAP leader received a head injury at his Quetta residence.
He underwent a surgery and was put on ventilator in Quetta. Later he was shifted to AKUH Karachi via a special air-ambulance.
However, Usman Kakar succumbed to his injuries and passed away earlier today.
His funeral will be held at 05:00 pm on 23rd June in his hometown, Muslim Bagh, read the post from late senator’s twitter account.
Usman Kakar joined PKMAP back in 1996 and was elected as a senator in 2015 Pakistani Senate elections.
He also contested for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of PMAP in March 2018 but was unsuccessful and lost the office to a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Saleem Mandviwalla. Kakar received 44 votes and was supported by the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
Several fellow politicians took to social media to offer condolences on Usman Kakar’s demise and paying homage to the late senator for his efforts and sacrifices for the democracy.
