Former Managing Director (MD) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) – Aijaz Haroon has been arrested in illegal appointment case on Saturday (today).
Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle on Saturday, arrested former MD PIA Aijaz Haroon in illegal appointment case.

The agency also arrested former Human Resource (HR) Director PIA Haneef Pathan for illegal appointment of Salim Sayani as deputy managing director (DMD) PIA back in 2009.
According to FIA, Salim Sayani had been appointed on the salary of US$ 20,000 per month besides other perks and privileges including medical coverage, a 5-star hotel room for three months and family accommodation in Dubai over the expenses of national carrier.
FIA argues that Sayani’s appointment was in-violation of standard rules and regulations of the PIA.
Furthermore, the two accused are also suspected of being involved in financial embezzlement, money laundering and having assets beyond means.
It is to be noted that Aijaz Haroon had stepped down from the post of MD PIA in 2011 after severe opposition from PIA employees.
