Former Accountability Judge Arshad Malik succumbs to COVID-19 coronavirus.
As per details, Judge Arshad Malik passed away due to coronavirus in Rawalpindi on Friday (today). He was being treated at a private hospital and was shifted on ventilator after health deteriorated.
Judge Arshad Malik is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
His funeral prayers will be offered in Mandra – a town of Tehsil Gujar Khan.
It was Judge Arshad Malik who sentenced former Prime Minister, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to seven years in jail inAl Azizia reference case, whereas he had acquitted Nawaz in the Flagship reference.
In July 2019 last year, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz released a video along with audio clips which purportedly showed him ‘confessing’ that his verdict was influenced and his decision was made under ‘duress’.
Following the video and audio clips, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had suspended Arshad Malik from his duties and he was directed to report back to Lahore High Court (LHC).
LHC then sacked Judge Arshad Malik, with LHC administration committee approving the removal of the sessions judge after he was found guilty of professional misconduct.
