Former Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hasan passed away in Karachi on Friday.
According to details, the senior JI leader was severely ill and was being treated at Imam Clinic Hospital in Karachi.
As per the family sources, his health had recently deteriorated and he was put on ventilator.
He joined the party in 1967, and was elected as the fourth ‘Ameer’ or head of Jamat-e-Islami in 2009 – a post from which was ousted from after the party’s overwhelmingly poor performance in 2013 General Elections.
He was 78 years old.
