Former Interior Minister and veteran politician Chaudhry Nisar took oath as member Punjab Assembly on Wednesday (today).
The oath was administered by Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari soon after which the former interior minister left the assembly.
Chaudhry Nisar had won the PP-10 seat of Punjab Assembly in 2018 General Elections as an independent candidate.
However, the former interior minister had refused to take oath as a measure of protest against alleged rigging in the election which led to his defeat for the National Assembly seat NA-59 Rawalpindi III.
Expressing his views as to why he decided to take oath as Punjab Assembly member after a gap of two years and 10 months, Chaudhry Nisar noted that federal government intends to introduce an ordinance aimed at disqualifying members of assemblies.
Nisar categorically denied rumors regarding a meeting between him and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif. Furthermore, Chaudhry Nisar also clarified that he is not joining any political party.
It is to be noted that Chaudhry Nisar wasn’t able to take oath as member Punjab Assembly on Tuesday a day earlier as per schedule due to the unavailability of the speaker and deputy speaker of the assembly.
