Foreign Office on Thursday, categorically denied false rumors and media reports regarding Saudi Arabia’s anti-Pakistan role in FATF.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), media reports and rumors regarding Saudi Arabia’s negative role in Financial Action Task Force (FATF) assessment meeting on Pakistan.
“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong fraternal ties and the two countries have always cooperated with each other on all matters of bilateral, regional and international importance,” read the press-release issued by MoFA.
Pakistan greatly values its relations with the brotherly Saudi Arabia and firmly rejects such malicious propaganda, it added.
FATF is expected to announce its assessment of Pakistan’s progress on the Action Plan and the future course of action after conclusion of its Plenary Meeting.
The development comes as rumors were circulating contending that Saudi Arabia has voted against Pakistan in FATF plenary session regarding Pakistan’s Grey-List status.
Prior to this, The Asia-Pacific Group (APG), a regional affiliate of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on money laundering and terror financing, had announced its decision to keep Pakistan on its ‘Enhanced Follow-UP’ list on October 12th earlier this month.
