Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Palestinian counterpart Dr Riyad Al Maliki and reiterated Pakistan’s continuing and ‘unwavering’ support for Palestine and its people.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), FM Qureshi met with his Palestinian counterpart on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and reassured Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed concerns over recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and stressed upon the significance of two-State solution based on pre-1967 borders under the relevant UNSC resolutions for sustainable peace in the region.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Foreign minister Dr Diyad Al Maliki expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Palestinian President and people of Palestine to the Foreign Minister for proactively taking up the case of Palestine at the UN General Assembly during the recent Israeli aggression against Gaza.
Furthermore, addressing the issue of increasing Islamophobia, both foreign ministers agreed on the need for evolving a joint strategy to counter discrimination against all religious faiths, particularly against Muslims.
FM Qureshi also extended an invitation to Foreign Minister Maliki to visit Pakistan, which the latter accepted reaffirming to visit Pakistan in near future.
