Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov have reiterated their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between Pakistan and Russia.
As per details, the two foreign ministers held telephonic conversation on Monday (today) and reaffirmed the commitment to deepen bilateral ties and increase cooperation in various fields, sectors.
During the interaction, FM Qureshi stressed upon Pakistan wishes to promote cooperation with Russia in multilateral fields.
Islamabad attached great importance to the signing of the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline project, added Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
During the telephonic conversation, COVID-19 pandemic and its repercussions were also discussed as FM Qureshi highlighted Pakistan’s requirement of 5 million doses of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine.
The two also mulled over matters of mutual interest including various regional and global issues.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov highlighted that Russia had previously provided 50 doses of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine and further intends to provide additional 150,000 doses.
The foreign minister also expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for Russia’s assistance to Pakistan in tackling coronavirus outbreak and for lifting the ban on rice imports from Pakistan.
