An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday (today), indicted five terrorists involved in Chinese Consulate attack.
During the hearing the ATC judge read out prosecution’s charges against the accused militants who in-fact pleaded not guilty. The court indicted five terrorists namely Ahmed Hasnain, Nadir Khan, Ali Ahmed, Abdul Latif and Aslam for their involvement in 2018 Chinese Consulate Attack.
The four terrorists belong from Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) – a banned militant outfit.
Meanwhile, a total of 15 BLA militants have been declared absconder in the case.
The absconder terrorists include Marri, Alidad Buledi, Commander Sharif, Rashid Hussain, Sameer and others.
Furthermore, Investigation officer and prosecution witnesses also appeared before the court to record their statements.
2018 Chinese Consulate Attack
On 23 November 2018, an armed assault on the Chinese consulate in Clifton, Karachi, Pakistan killed four people in an hour-long shootout. Those killed were two policemen and two civilians.
No Chinese nationals were hurt in the attack. The three attackers were also killed.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack in a tweet that included a photo of three men identified as Azal Khan Baloch, Razik Baloch and Rais Baloch. All of them were killed by police during the attack.
According to AIG Amir Shaikh, the attack was planned in Afghanistan and conducted with the support of India’s spy agency Research and Analysis Wing with the aim of sabotaging the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
