Five more doctors, including two lady doctors have tested positive for COVID-19 in Larkana’s Ratodero, on Thursday.
According to District Health Officer (DHO), five doctors, including two female medical officers, have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Larkana’s locality of Ratodero.
Three male doctors who have been diagnosed with the virus were working at Takula hospital Ratodero, while the two female medical officers were at basic healthcare centres.
Authorities have said that the affected doctors and their family members have been isolated at their homes.
Furthermore, nine family members of the three male doctors have also tested positive for the novel virus, while the reports of other family members are yet to be received.
Healthcare workers have been struggling with an acute shortage of personal protective equipment (PPEs) due to continuous influx of coronavirus patients.
Earlier, Dr Tahir Almani, a resident of Village Sono Khan Almani – had committed suicide due to the lack of PPEs resulting in an overwhelming fear of contracting COVID-19 coronavirus. He was serving as an anaesthetist at the ICU facility of Liaquat University Hospital, in the city of Jamshoro.
According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report issued on May 4, 509 healthcare workers have been reported to contract the COVID-19, including 263 doctors, 171 paramedics, and 75 nurses.
