Pakistan is set to launch a five-day national polio vaccination drive from March 29th next week.
During the national polio inoculation drive, more than 40 million children under the age of five will be vaccinated against polio virus.
The development comes as earlier, Dr Faisal Sultan – SAPM on Health, had launched national polio vaccination drive on Friday a day earlier.
The SAPM apprised that around 280,000 Sehat Muhafiz frontline workers will conduct door to door polio vaccination campaign.
Chief Minster Punjab Usman Buzdar had also inaugurated province-wide polio vaccination drive on Friday. In Punjab, around 120,000 polio workers will administer drops to 20 million children of two to five years of age in 36 districts during the five-day campaign starting from March 29th.
It is to be noted that Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world that are still not polio-free.
Pakistan launched six polio vaccination drives in 2020 last year, with the country reporting only one polio virus case this year so far.
