PM Imran Khan has directed authorities to ensure more incentives for overseas Pakistanis in order to increase foreign remittances.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, PM Imran Khan stressed upon the significance of foreign remittances for Pakistan.
The prime minister directed authorities to extend more incentives for overseas Pakistanis in order to attract more remittances from them.
Remittances sent by them have an important role in the country’s economic stability, said PM Imran Khan.
The premier reiterated government’s commitment towards facilitating Pakistani expatriates and their families all around the world.
Government is determined to extend full facilitation to overseas Pakistanis and their families, said the prime minister.
PM Imran Khan also emphasized on the need for evolving a strategy to achieve the targets set for different sectors.
The development comes as remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis are a key source of valuable foreign exchange which is a key factor for strengthening country’s economy.
Pakistan received a total of US$ 26.7 billion in an 11-month period between July 2020 to May 2021 – a 29% increase from the previous fiscal year.
According to Finance Ministry, proactive policy measures by the government and SBP to encourage more inflows through formal channels, curtailed cross border travel in the face of COVID-19, altruistic transfers to Pakistan amid the pandemic, orderly foreign exchange market conditions.
