Federal government has announced its decision to open Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme portal on September 5th.
Dr Sania Nishtar – special assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, has announced that the government will open the portal and start receiving applications for Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme on September 5th .
The decision to open the portal was made during the sixth meeting of programme’s steering committee of to mull over its future plans for academic session 2020-21.
As per the details, the programme will ensure the provision of undergraduate scholarships to around 50,000 students, to both male and female students.
According to Sania Nishtar this four-year scholarship programme will benefit 200,000 students and costs up to Rs 24 billion.
It is pertinent to know that around 50,762 students in 119 public universities benefited from Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme last year, with scholarships worth up to Rs 4.8 billion.
However, the previous year students submitted their applications via an online portal of Higher Education Commission (HEC), whereas this year students can directly submit their applications to programme’s own portal for the academic year 2020-21.
