An inter-provincial session of education ministers is scheduled for Monday January 4th to mull over reopening of educational institutions in the country amid prevailing COVID-19 situation.
The meeting will be attended by provincial education ministers and will be headed by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.
The meeting’s agenda also include decisions regarding board examinations which are expected to be held in May 2021.
Furthermore, proposals regarding academic year, summer vacations will also be tabled and discussed during the meeting.
It is pertinent to know that education institutions across Pakistan are currently closed since November 26th in accordance to the decision made in inter-provincial education ministers meeting which had earlier decided to close educational institutions till January 10th.
Although education is a provincial matter, under the 18th Amendment, the provinces adopted Center’s policy owing to a Supreme Court decision directing for a uniformed policy to tackle the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
