Noor Mohammad Mahar – President Pakistan Drug Lawyers Forum (PDLF), has urged the federal government to review and reverse its decision regarding medicine price hike.
Prior to this, government had approved a price hike of up to 262 per cent on September 24th last month.
The price hike, ranging from 9 per cent to 262 per cent was approved for a total of 94 medicines due to various reasons including availability issues along with depreciation and devaluation of Pakistani Rupees.
Increase in production costs, and prices of raw materials has also contributed to the medicine price hike. Out of the 94 medicines, 68 were locally manufactured whereas 26 were imported.
