Dr. Rosmini Omer, Dean of Azman Hashim International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) delivered a lecture on “Organization Development and Cross-Culture Management” at Sindh Madressatul Islam University. SMIU’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) had organized the lecture at SMIU’s Senate Hall.
In her lecture Dr. Rosmini Omer talked on digital destruction and digital organization in detail and said that organizations are creating increasing challenges by change. Hence, organizational transformation, cultural building, strategic planning, change management, organizational capability building and organizational design and restructuring are needed for organizational development.
Referring to the organizational structure of SMIU she said all people of the world must be proud of their history and SMIU inherits its great history as founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah had received his early education from it, that is a matter of pride for Pakistan and also for SMIU.
She said this institution has become able to complete its 137 years of academic service this year, and that became possible because of its best organizational structure and development. She said good leaders have good followers. We have to change business, people and society. Also there are numerous opportunities in the world but along that there are threats too, therefore one must be aware about all these things specially teaching community. She thanked SMIU’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai and Director ORIC Dr. Aamir Iqbal Umrani for inviting her at SMIU.
Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor SMIU in his concluding remarks welcomed the guests from Malaysia and said that SMIU had established academic linkages with some Malaysian universities in the past, due to that relationship SMIU’s students had visited Malaysia also, and now such linkages must be renewed and strengthened. He suggested that Dr. Rosmini Omer of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and SMIU’s Director of ORIC Dr. Aamir Iqbal Umrani should ink a MoU about mutual cooperation in the fields of academic and research.
Earlier, Dr. Aamir Iqbal Umrani in his welcome remarks expressed gratitude on the visit of Dr. Rosmini Omer and her team to SMIU and said SMIU will take initiatives to establish linkages with foreign universities including Malaysian universities in near future. Dr. Jamshed Adil, presented a vote of thanks and he also welcomed Malaysian guests at SMIU. On the occasion they exchanged souvenirs. The lecture was attended by deans, chairpersons, sectional heads, faculty members and students of the varsity in a large number.
Later on, Dr. Rosmini Omer and her team’s members include Dr. Noor Aiza Mohd Zamil and Dr. Obaid Rashdi Syed visited various sections of SMIU. They went round the Jinnah Museum, Radio and TV Studios, computer labs, incubation center and I.T Tower.
