Dr Faisal Sultan has been appointed as new Special Assistant on Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health on Monday (today).
As per the notification issued by cabinet division Dr Faisal Sultan has been appointed as SAPM for National Health Services, regulations and coordination.
Dr Faisal Sultan will be equal to a federal minister, added the notification.
Dr Faisal Sultan is the chief executive officer of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) – a charity cancer hospital founded by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.
The new completed his graduation from the King Edward Medical College University, Lahore, in 1987. Meanwhile his postgraduate degrees include Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine (1992) and Diplomate American Board of Infectious Disease (1994).
The development comes as earlier, Dr Zafar Mirza former SAPM on Health resigned from his post on July 29th, citing criticism on government and PM regarding his citizenship status.
Dr Zafar Mirza took to social media to congratulate and praise Dr Faisal Sultan on being appointed as the new SAPM on Health.
